Heavenly Rest.

Having fun with layers, opacity, and the once-dreaded magnetic lasso tool. As one of the most fundamental tools in the Photoshop toolbox I took my sweet time getting around to using it for its intended purpose of silhouetting and separating objects in an image from their context. All three images in this "triple exposure" are from the day after superstorm Sandy blew through New York. I went to Calvary Cemetery to see what damage had been wrought. Many trees were felled and tombstones toppled, though it was not always obvious if the stones had fallen on account of Sandy or if they fell on account of typical graveyard decay. The plastic angel was lying on pavement, far from a gravestone, suggesting she had flown quite a ways on the winds of Sandy. The large tombstone fell facedown in the grass. I put them both in the still-cloudy sky. It's corny and rather amateurish, but I'm having fun learning the nuances of creating montages.
